I have 12 months to prepare for high school varsity basketball. I'm a 16 years old, gonna 17 I'm 5'11 185 pounds I'm a little fit and plan to be fit for basketball and I never really have played basketball for all my life so I plan on practicing as much as I can so I can play varsity. What positions are ideal and what position does each demand and what body should I try to get.(athletic ability) sorry if too much to ask..|||i think if your 5'11 185 at 16 ....you can easily play anywhere from shooting guard to power forward.
if your a great shooter and you love making open shots and just have the ball most of the time i say shooting guard.
if your a hustler....and you get steals, rebounds...make good passes and play unselfish i say small forward
if you have a strong lower body with good jumping ability you could be a a power forward and get rebounds and block shots.
in basketball its better to have a fit lean and long body....you need quickness and quick feet. the rest is practice practice practice.|||Judging by your question, I'd say your position would be power-bottom.
