How many players are on a basketball team and what are the name of their positions?

Any other basketball terminology would be greatly appreciated. Also, for example what position does that player play and what are they suppose to do to support that position on the court.|||5 players are on the court per team, but they dont all have to have different positions. 5 per team on the court, so alltogether 10 players on the court.

theres:

power forward - PF

small forward - SF

shooting guard - SG

point guard - PG

center - C|||theres five positions:

point guard-runs the D and the offense leader of the team

shooting guard-best shooter takes most of the shots

small foward-the most versatile player goes in for layups and takes the contact

power foward-rebounds %26amp; blocks shots

center-same as PF

|||at least 11 and Powerforward, center, shootingguard, and pointguard|||This is easy one 12 are on a team and five are on at on time.|||normally there are 12 players on any given team. there are 5 positions on a team. 2 guards, 2 forwards and a center. the center is usually the tallest player on the team. that player usually plays the low post. next is called the power forward. usually the next tallest player, this player plays the low post but also has the ability to make jump shots facing the basket. next is called the small forward. this player usually combines the skills of the center, and power forward and handles the basketball. next is the shooting guard. this player handles the basketball and is usually the teams best outside, long range shooter. and last is the point guard. the point guard runs the team, calls the plays and has shooting guard skills|||12 players i think

point guard

shooting guard

small forward

power forward

center|||There is pretty much no limit for players on a team, but 10-13 is average.

Only 5 players take the court.

G - Guard. There are Shooting Guards who mostly shoot, and Point Guards who balance shooting and distributing.

F - Forward. Small Forwards play like Guards, but are a bit too tall and attack the rim. Power Forwards are just a tad too short to be centers, huge and strong and always attack the rim.

C - Center. Centers live in the paint and attack the rim. They are supposed to be the biggest guys on the team.

The starting lineup for most teams consists of 2 Guards (one point guard, one shooting guard), 2 forwards (one small forward, one power forward), and a center.|||Umm...Depends on setup:

Normal offense:

Point-has ball at the top of the key

Wing-2 players on the arch

Low Post-two players out of the paint by the goal

High Post-Out of the paint at the corner of the free throw line

3. Small Forward- Most versatile player. Usually can shoot, drive, rebound, etc. Guards inside and out of the perimeter.
