What is the difference between a basketball jump and a volleyball jump?

I'm in a league and the official told me that I had a basketball jump and I need to get rid of it. I know in volleyball there is the 3 step approach for a spike but is that all there is to it?|||Yes, that is all there is too it. But the 3-step approach requires you to plant both feet and jump and both feet leaving the ground at the same time. You should stop all of your forward momentum when you plant both feet. That will keep you from jumping forward and into the net.

Your 'basketball jump' probably has the look of someone taking a layup in basketball.|||The only time I've heard of this is when someone on my team kept jumping off one foot instead of two, like you are supposed to in volleyball. In basketball, you jump off one foot for a layup. You need to get planted with both feet and then jump to get maximum power in volleyball! :)|||no, it's really not that different other than the arms, and jumping and landing on 2 feet. *this is incredibly important. my friend severed her ACL, MCL, and meniscus by landing on one foot*

ps, there's also a 4 step approach that works, too ;)
